The paperwork

In order for the Iron Butt Association to recognize the Two Wheels for Transition Ride as an official SaddleSore 1000 (1000 miles in 24 hours or less), documentation must be completed to verify the ride. Witnesses must verify your presence and odometer at the start and the end of the ride and a date/time stamped receipt becomes your official start time. During the ride, any stop over 30 minutes must be logged and you must produce a receipt for fuel at least every 350 miles. In order to ensure you have all the necessary information recorded, LD rider use the acronym TOP DOG:
T = time
O = odometer reading
P = place
D = date
O = other
G = gallons
If your receipt and log shows all this information, you're good to go. All this documentation, plus a map showing your route, is submitted to the IBA. Staffers then audit the log and receipts calling witnesses if necessary to verify you completed the ride as you've claimed. Only after this verification will the IBA issuse a certificate. Sweetness

There's not much sweeter in life than a brand new, sticky bit of sport-touring heaven just waiting to take to the road. This Michelin Pilot Road 2 will see me throught the Two Wheels for Transition Ride and the Utah 1088 rally a week later.

2W4T preparation

On Friday I did a little shake down ride in preparation for the Two Wheels for Transition Ride that is just three weeks away. My route was a simple one: a round trip from Monmouth to Lakeview and back. The bike performed perfectly and I managed to get a visit in with a few of my Warner Creek Correctional Facility co-workers. To Bart Snell; good luck in retirement my friend. Stay safe and I hope your new home out of state is all that you want it to be.

Two Wheels for Transition

On June 19th, I plan to ride 1100 miles and visit all 14 state of Oregon prisons in a fund raiser event for Shelly's House. This ride has been accepted as an official event of the Oregon Sesquicentennial. You can follow my progress on the web by global positioning satellite technology and an audio blog. Please take a few minutes to visit my website at www.twowheelsfortransition.org and donate if your heart moves you to.
