Routing Central

I left my roommates behind and have moved into my own room for this evening.  At 8 PM Eastern time this will be routing central.  It's difficult to see but I now have a 32 inch monitor for my routing laptop.  A $6 HDMI cable from  PCH Cables does the trick.

Now THAT'S a light

Deer strikes are a ever present danger when riding at night.  In Australia kangaroos, not deer, are the threat.  This rider from Australia seems to have found a partial solution.

The Last Task

This is the line for the final interview with Mike Kneebone.  I think I'll have a cigarette and take a nap instead.

Odo check

It's always a good sign when you don't mess up the odometer check.  That was the case for me.  I'm sorry I don't have an more exciting picture for you.  I did however get soaked completely dried out and wet again in 36.8 miles.

Tech

I flew through tech inspection.  Corporate logos have been covered up.

Camera check

Legend Dave McQueeny running the camera check station.

Art

I present this year's Iron Butt Rally print.

A final preparation

When your head is going to spend 11 days straight in a helmet you want to minimize your hair care requirements.  Fortunately I got mine cut before I left home.

Franken-bike

A Ninja 650 street bike converted for dirt use.

Breakfast of Champions

I think I'm going to like Pittsburgh

East Coast West Coast

What are the chances you would find a cigarette machine right next door to the exercise facility in a West Coast Marriott?

Looks like we made it.

Are we there yet?

Almost there.  About 2,500 miles down and 40 to go.  This has been my view for most of those miles.

Trailer Trash

As we've become to be known be certain long distance riders, here's a picture of the Trailer Trash.

Desert rain

Matt and Rusty tell me rain like this usually only lasts five minutes.  That was an hour ago.

Update from Pasco

I arrived at Matt's in Pasco Washington safely.  We'll head out at 9 or 10 tomorrow morning.  Here's a look at Matt's hideous bike.

Tie it down

The day before I leave for the rally and you would think I would have nothing left to do.  I was wrong.  Yesterday I tethered several things to the inside of my top case.  My rally flag my receipt envelope and my voice recorder are all secured should I forget to latch my case.  It's happened before ; )

Food for thought

More people have successfully eaten this 72 ounce steak than have completed the Iron Butt Rally.
